Job Overview

A values-led UK-based property and social impact organisation is seeking an experienced Senior Bookkeeper to oversee multi-entity bookkeeping operations across its growing housing group. This role is vital to ensuring financial accuracy, operational efficiency, and strategic decision-making in a mission-driven business providing both temporary and long-term accommodation solutions.

As a Senior Bookkeeper, you’ll lead the day-to-day finance function, optimise systems like Xero and ApprovalMax, and collaborate closely with leadership to maintain clean financial data and reporting. If you’re a Xero-certified professional with a deep understanding of intercompany finance, automation tools, and UK compliance — this role offers meaningful work within a supportive remote team.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management

  • Lead weekly bookkeeping processes across multiple entities
  • Oversee client invoicing, credit control, and supplier payments
  • Manage bank reconciliations and ensure up-to-date cash flow data
  • Maintain accurate intercompany accounts and deferred income records
  • Track rental income and costs, ensuring correct allocations across properties
  • Respond to finance-related queries via shared inboxes

Systems & Automation

  • Optimise and maintain workflows in XeroDextApprovalMax, and Telleroo
  • Manage user access, system permissions, and integration integrity
  • Drive automation and system improvements to streamline financial processes
  • Collaborate with operations and tech teams to align financial and property systems

Reporting & Compliance

  • Prepare weekly finance dashboards: cash position, debtors, and payables
  • Lead preparation for monthly finance reviews with leadership
  • Support quarterly UK VAT submissions and compliance
  • Ensure accurate record-keeping aligned with UK financial regulations

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • Xero Certified Advisor with up-to-date certification
  • Minimum 3–5 years of senior-level bookkeeping experience
  • Proven experience managing multi-entity finance
  • In-depth knowledge of intercompany transactions and reconciliations
  • Solid understanding of UK VAT requirements and submission timelines
  • High attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and system thinking
  • Access to a reliable laptop/PC and stable internet connection

Desirable:

  • Experience with workflow automation and financial integrations
  • Comfort working in a remote, collaborative team environment
  • Experience with visual reporting tools or dashboard creation
