This is a remote position.
We are recruiting for a ‘Home-Based’ Revenues Officer for a Local Authority in the Midlands. It is essential the applicant has experience of NEC(Northgate) Revenues & Benefits Software and Civica Document Imaging.
Rate: £26.17 per hour (umbrella)
Hours: The role will be full time (37 hours a week), 5 days per week
THE ROLE
Duties will include dealing with customers on the telephone and also working from daily post, emails and online forms.
- Establishing Council Tax liability;
- Progressing recovery of debts at summons stage and beyond;
- Creating and updating Council Tax accounts, including (but not limited to):
-Change of addresses;
-Determinations and awards including Single Person Discount (SPD), Severely Mentally Impaired Discount (SMI), second homes and empty properties;
-Exemption determinations, including student exemptions;
-Deaths; - Setting up and amending Direct Debits;
- Actioning BACS amendments;
- Actioning Direct Debit recalls in order to understand the customer’s circumstances and establish an appropriate payment method going forward;
- Proactively identifying and processing refunds in a timely manner;
- Updating accounts following re-banding by the Valuation Office Agency (VOA);
- Gathering and making determinations upon information relating to sole and main residency;
- Supporting discount reviews, e.g. SPD / Second Homes.
Requirements
ESSENTIAL
- Experience of NEC Revenues & Benefits Software
- Experience of Civica Document Imaging
- Experience of Council Tax Billing
