Corporate Development Intern : Mercury

As a Corporate Development Intern, you’ll work with Mercury’s Head of Corporate Development to support a wide range of initiatives that help Mercury identify, evaluate, and execute on strategic and financial opportunities. This is a highly cross-functional and strategic role, providing exposure to senior leaders and critical business decisions.

[This internship is a 12-16 week, full-time, paid opportunity running between May and September 2025] with potential to continue part-time during studies. Candidates must be enrolled in a graduate-level academic program (MBA, JD, or other relevant advanced degrees) at the time of application.

Here are some things you’ll do on the job:

Contribute to special projects and internal strategy initiatives, including pricing and packaging, evaluating new business models, and analyzing other critical business levers.

Support investor relations efforts, including preparing materials and data for Mercury’s investors, researching public and private market comparables, and tracking relevant industry and macroeconomic trends.

Conduct market landscapes and competitive analysis to inform Mercury’s long-term strategy.

Assist with M&A pipeline tracking, target research, and preliminary evaluations.

Help prepare presentations and memos for Mercury leadership on key strategic topics.

Synthesize industry trends and investment themes relevant to Mercury’s product and business evolution.

You should:

Be currently enrolled in an MBA or other graduate program, ideally with a focus in business, finance, economics, or a related field.

Have several years of prior work experience, ideally in finance, consulting, investment banking, private equity, venture capital, corporate finance, or corporate development.

Have a demonstrated interest in fintech. Bonus for knowledge of bank and traditional financial services business models.

Be proficient in financial modeling, data analysis, and company valuation techniques.

Have experience with SQL or similar query languages and be comfortable working with large datasets and performing ad hoc data analyses.

Have experience with prompt engineering and leveraging AI tools to enhance workflows and analysis.

Have strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to distill complex information into clear insights.

Be a clear communicator—comfortable preparing written memos and presenting findings.

Be highly organized, with excellent attention to detail.

Be curious and resourceful, with a self-starter mindset.

Compensation:

The hourly rate for candidates based in the US is $40/hr.
