Description

We are looking for a sharp, detail-oriented Junior Legal Associate to join a fast growing fintech in Latam on a 3-month fixed-term contract, providing essential legal support across our operating markets: Colombia, Mexico, Chile, Peru, and Brazil. This is a high-ownership role for someone who moves fast, communicates clearly, and is comfortable navigating legal matters across multiple jurisdictions simultaneously.

This role is an opportunity to work at the intersection of fintech, financial inclusion, and regional expansion – and for the right candidate, strong performance during this period may open the door to a longer-term opportunity at the company.

What You’ll Do

  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, amendments, and partnership agreements across the company’s markets
  • Support the structuring and documentation of commercial relationships with partners and platforms
  • Maintain and organize the contract repository, ensuring accuracy and version control

  • Assist with corporate governance documentation across the company’s legal entities in the region
  • Support entity maintenance tasks including board minutes, resolutions, and regulatory filings
  • Help ensure the company’s corporate structure remains compliant and well-documented across jurisdictions

  • Provide legal review for product initiatives, including UX/UI flows, terms and conditions, and user-facing documentation
  • Draft and update internal policies in line with regulatory requirements and business needs
  • Partner with the product and compliance teams to ensure legal alignment on new features and market launches

  • Assist with KYC processes, transaction monitoring frameworks, and ABAC (Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption) policies
  • Support risk assessments and help prepare documentation for internal and external audits
  • Contribute to building scalable compliance processes as the business expands across markets

  • Serve as a key legal resource for local teams in Colombia, Mexico, Chile, Peru, and Brazil
  • Identify and flag jurisdiction-specific legal considerations that affect the company’s operations or product roadmap
  • Help standardize legal processes and templates for consistent application across markets

Requirements

Who You Are

  • 1–2 years of legal experience, with in-house experience strongly preferred (law firm background with relevant fintech or financial services exposure also considered)
  • Law degree from an accredited institution; admitted to practice in Colombia, Chile or another market such as (Peru, Mexico or Brazil)
  • Full professional fluency in English and Spanish languages is required – you will work across English and Spanish-speaking stakeholders daily. Portuguese language is not required, but can be an advantage
  • Comfortable operating across multiple jurisdictions without deep local expertise in every one – you know how to ask the right questions and escalate when needed
  • Strong drafting skills – clear, concise, and precise in both languages
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized; able to manage multiple open matters simultaneously without dropping the ball
  • High-ownership mindset – you take initiative, flag problems early, and follow through
  • Genuine interest in fintech, financial inclusion, and the Latin American startup ecosystem

    Location: Chile or Colombia.
